Field Trips and Waiver Forms

Many classes at Hillside will be going on end of the year field trips.  Please be advised that permission forms, and in some cases waiver forms, must be completed well before the trip.  Parents who are supervising on these trips are also reminded that their criminal records check must be up to date as well. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this manner.

Under the direction of Mrs. Columbus, Hillside’s choir continues to grow both in numbers and in their repertoire of selections that they sing.  Choir practices are held at lunch every Wednesday. The next opportunity to hear our choir perform will be the upcoming Rotary Carol Festival.  If you are able to support Hillside’s choir by attending, the students would be most appreciative.

Chess Club at Hillside Traditional Academy

Thank you, Mr. Kerschbaum for making this activity possible at lunch time.

Cross country run

Hillside offers a variety of extra-curricular sports for the students to participate in throughout the school year. This year we are offering cross country running club, basketball, volleyball and track and field. For some of these sports, students have the opportunity to compete with teams from other schools in our district. Coaching is provided by volunteers (teachers, staff, high school students & parents). For parents who have the time and the interest, this is a wonderful way to make a contribution at our school.

Encourage your child to participate in these wonderful sports opportunities. At Hillside we take pride in the level of participation, sportsmanship and skill demonstrated by our athletes.

Students in grades 2 - 6 may join Choir. The Choir will perform at several different venues and at many assemblies throughout the year.

Students in grades 5 & 6 can play in intramural floor hockey games twice a week.

Parent volunteers run Lego club for students in all grades.

Grade 4 & 5 students learn drawing techniques in this afterschool club.

Avid readers in grade 4 & 5 can join Reading Link Challenge, a club that promotes literacy in a fun-filled interactive way.

Senior students take on the responsibility of helping in the office during lunch and recess breaks. They learn to answer the phones, take messages, and assist with simple office tasks.

Senior students take on the responsibility of helping in the kindergarten and grade 1 classes during lunch and recess breaks. They are wonderful models and support for these younger students.

Students take on the responsibility of raising and lowering our national and provincial flags every day.
